Three dozen firefighters responded to the 6:50 a.m. blaze, which was placed under control by 8:20.

Sept. 29--BIG BEAR LAKE -- Flames engulfed a former lumber company Sunday morning off Big Bear Boulevard but no injuries were reported, a fire official said.

Large flames were reported about 6:50 a.m. from Riffenburgh Lumber Co. at the 42800 block of Big Bear Blvd., said San Bernardino County Fire Department dispatch supervisor Otto Schramm. The fire was knocked down about 8:20 a.m.

Approximately 35 fire personnel from Big Bear Fire Authority, with the assistance of San Bernardino County Fire Department, Baldwin Lake Fire Department and Cal Fire's San Bernardino unit.

Fire personnel "took a defensive position so they didn't do any entry into the building," Schramm said. "They fought the fire from the exterior of the building. It was two fully involved structures and an exposure problem, which means there was possibility of other buildings around catching on fire."

There was no cause determined as of Sunday morning, Schramm said.
