(WUSA9) -- Authorities say a man in his 50's was walking near the 900 block of N. Wakefield St. in Arlington when he stepped on a grate for a vent shaft and it collapsed. The man fell approximately 15 feet, say authorities.
EMS arrived and started treating the man, who was alert and oriented, according to authorities.
The man was then extricated by the Arlington Technical Rescue Team by use of a ladder truck, say authorities. He was transported to a Fairfax emergency room.
