Blaze Does $1M Damage to S.C. Shopping Center

Columbia fire officials are still on the scene.

Oct. 14--COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A fire of unknown origin did an estimated $1 million worth of damage early Monday morning at the Spring Valley Commons shopping center.

Several businesses received heavy smoke and fire damage and others, heavy smoke damage, said Columbia fire chief Aubrey Jenkins.

No injuries were reported at the three-alarm fire at 9003 Two Notch Road.

More than 60 firefighters and 13 fire trucks responded.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Richland County Fire Marshal's Office.

"We are trying to figure out exactly where and how it started," Jenkins said Monday.
