Veteran Ohio Firefighter Stricken Conducting Training

Leroy Murphy, 56, was teaching a fire services training at a community college when he fell ill.

A veteran firefighter of 20+ years passed away at approximately 9:00 a.m. Sunday after going into full cardiac arrest at a local hospital.

LeRoy Murphy, 56, of Greenville, was conducting Fire Services training for Clark State Community College Saturday morning at the Englewood Fire Tower training area. When feeling ill, Murphy was immediately transported via medic around 9:30 a.m.to Good Samaritan Hospital says Lt. Tyler Manus of the Englewood Fire Department.

Murphy was reported to have gone into full cardiac arrest at Good Samaritan Hospital late Saturday night.

Manus said Murphy's service record shows he had currently been with the Englewood Fire & Rescue, Gettysburg Fire & Rescue, Clark State Community College Fire Services Training, and recently with the Greenville Township Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife and children. Funeral services were not set at the time of this posting.
