Oct. 26--A fire erupted on a barge in Daytona Beach after a fireworks show Friday night.

The boat caught on fire around 10 p.m. while in the Halifax River behind the Daytona Beach City Island Library between Magnolia Street and City Island Parkway.

No one was injured.

The Daytona Beach Fire Department and the Daytona Beach Police Department Marine Unit attempted to put the fire out while the boat was still in the water but mechanical difficulties prevented firefighters from extinguishing all of the flames.

Once river currents forced the barge closed to shore officials were able to attack the fire again and put it out finally.

The state fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire and the damage.
