Nov. 13--HIGH POINT -- Fire investigators are at the scene of a blaze that destroyed a High Point home Tuesday night and killed multiple pets.

High Point Fire Department Capt. Denita Lynch said it's too early to say what sparked the fire at 1403 Wiltshire St. The fire is out, however, Lynch said one engine remains on scene.

"The investigator is out this morning," Lynch said. "He'll be out there looking for a cause of the fire."

The four people inside the two-story home when the blaze started got out safely before firefighters arrived. Lynch said one dog was rescued from the fire but several other pets did not make it. Lynch did not say how many pets died in the fire or what kinds of animals they were.

One firefighter was treated at the for an unknown injury and returned to work Tuesday night, Lynch said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family with housing, Lynch said.
