Nov. 13--A 46-year-old Underwood man was arrested for DWI Tuesday after the car he was driving ended up in a ditch near Battle Lake and caught on fire, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.

The car fire was reported just after 8 p.m. in the area of North Silver Lake Road.

No one was inside the vehicle; the driver fled the scene. It's believed that the car went into the ditch and ignited due to dry grass. Battle Lake Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Two tires and other items were laying in the middle of the road that appeared to be removed from the trunk of the vehicle and placed in the road. Battle Lake Police and sheriff's deputies investigated and found the driver an hour later at his home.

He appeared intoxicated and was arrested for DWI.
