A massive fire destroyed a popular pie shop in Houston.

The blaze at My Dee Dee's Pie Shoppe occurred on Friday -- two days after 2,000 pies in customized glass pie plates went out the door.

The flames were visible for miles, according to abclocal.com.

"It appears to have started in the kitchen area" Lt. Dean Hensley with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, told reporters.

Two people were inside a home attached to the business escaped thanks to the quick actions of Good Samaritans.

Jacqueline Lavarn told the media she was sleeping in the apartment upstairs when she heard passers-by honking their horns.

"They were like, 'Get out of the house,' and then I guess one of the neghborhood people came and got a ladder and got me out," Lavarn said.

Owners of the pie shop vow to rebuild and start baking again soon.
