Dec. 10--MACCLESFIELD -- A house fire killed one person and burned at least two others early Tuesday, including a Wilson County volunteer firefighter.
A person died in the 507 W. Green St. fire and another was rushed to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with serious injuries, according to initial reports.
A firefighter from the Bakertown Volunteer Fire Department near Elm City twisted his ankle and received treatment for minor injuries at Wilson Medical Center, county Emergency Management Coordinator Gordon Deno said.
The Bakertown department assisted Macclesfield firefighters with dousing the blaze. Wilson County Emergency Medical Services paramedics also responded.
