Fla. Ambulance Involved in Crash While Transporting Patient

Four paramedics and another person were hurt.

Dec. 28--An ambulance taking a trauma patient to a hospital was involved in a traffic crash Friday night, sending four paramedics and another person to the hospital, Delray Beach Fire Rescue said.

The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. at West Atlantic Avenue and South Military Trail, said Capt. Kevin Saxton, Fire Rescue spokesman.

The injured paramedics and the driver of the other vehicle all were taken to Delray Medical Center for evaluation. None of their injuries are believed to be life-threatening, Saxton said.

The original patient was taken to the hospital by another Fire Rescue unit that was nearby.

The Delray Beach Police Department is investigating the crash.
