Jan. 01--KNOXVILLE -- A Knoxville firefighter who suffered a heart attack while fighting a house fire was in stable condition this morning at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The firefighter was identified today as Capt. Mark Lacey.

The New Year's Eve fire was reported about 9:47 p.m. Tuesday at 5508 Dandyline Drive by a resident, according to Knoxville Fire Department Capt. D.J. Corcoran.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing when they arrived, Corcoran said, and all of the home's residents were safely outside.
