Jan. 04--Investigators are working to determine whether a fatal fire in an East Anchorage mobile home early Friday was intentionally set, a police spokeswoman said.
"It was reported to us that the fire may have been intentionally set," Anchorage police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in an email. "However, we are investigating to determine if an arson has occurred."
Firefighters received a call at 1:29 a.m. from a neighbor who reported the blaze at 4110 DeBarr Road, just east of Bragaw Road, a fire dispatcher said. The caller said a person was trapped inside the home in Glacier Terrace Mobile Home Park.
Dispatch said the first of 21 fire units responded around 1:35 a.m. and reported that the mobile home was engulfed in flames. The fire was under control by 2:02 a.m., the dispatcher said.
One person died in the blaze, according to the Anchorage Fire Department. A second person was injured and taken to a local hospital.
Authorities have not identified the victim.
