Jan. 13--The former president of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department will be arraigned Monday on charges he stole more than $5,000 from the organization.

Chester Yurkovic, 56, of Findlay is charged with one count of theft for allegedly skimming money from several department fundraisers dating back to November 2011 and using a department-issued credit card to buy gas and pizza for himself.

Court records do not indicate whether Yurkovic has retained a lawyer.

The fire department board suspended Yurkovic in February after they caught him stealing $650 from a T-shirt sale. Investigators said he took a total of $5,779.
