Jan. 13--Police are investigating a reported explosion that injured one person Sunday evening in a home in Vancouver's Rose Village neighborhood.
The Vancouver Fire Department responded shortly after 7:20 p.m. to a call from a residence in the 2000 block of East 29th Street, according to emergency radio traffic. Initially, the woman reporting the incident said the house exploded, but the situation did not appear nearly that dire when emergency crews arrived.
"The conditions they found was no fire and a small amount of smoke," Vancouver fire Capt. Hans Wachlin said. "There was one citizen who was transported by personal vehicle to a hospital."
According to radio traffic, a man received some facial burns and declined an ambulance ride to the hospital.
Wachlin said the incident was handed over to police for an investigation, but he declined to say why. Three engines, one truck and one battalion chief were dispatched to the home on East 29th Street, he said. No firefighters were injured.
Vancouver Police Sgt. Mike Davis couldn't provide further details because of the ongoing investigation. The damage to the house did not affect any nearby structures, Davis said.
