Jan. 17--A nearly $3 million home along Lake of the Isles suffered extensive damage from top to bottom in a fire, Minneapolis authorities said.

The blaze was reported shortly after 8:15 p.m. at the home in the 2300 block of W. Lake of the Isles Parkway, according to the Fire Department.

The occupants of the 85-year-old home had fled by the time fire crews arrived. One firefighter suffered a minor cut in battling the blaze.

Arriving fire crews first spotted smoke in the basement and then found flames extending through the walls, the Fire Department added.

Within 45 minutes, the blaze had reached the roof, and it took another 45 or so minutes before the fire was brought under control, authorities said.

The circumstances leading to the fire have yet to be determined.

The $2.94 million home had more than 7,400 square feet of living space and included six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

The home has been up for sale, listed with Coldwell Banker Burnet.
