Three New Manchester firefighters suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Three teenagers were killed in a collision between a car and a fire truck in New Manchester Saturday night.

The New Manchester Volunteer Fire Department vehicle was headed to a chimney fire when the crashed happened on Route 8, The Review newspaper reported.

Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher said two victims died at the scene. The third died on the way to the hospital. All three were 16.

The fire truck was responding northbound and the teens were driving southbound when they entered the northbound lanes to pass another vehicle.

"Evidence on the roadway, in conjunction with the witness statements, indicates the passenger vehicle attempted to pull back into the southbound lane, however unsuccessfully," Fletcher told WTOV-TV.

Three of the six firefighters on the fire truck were taken a hospital in Weirton. They were treated and released.
