Md. Firefighter Hurt When Hose Bursts

The New Windsor firefighter was flown to a trauma center.

A  firefighter was flown to a trauma center in Maryland Friday night after he was struck by a hose.

The volunteer with New Windsor Vol. Fire Co. was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center after the incident at at a house fire, according to local media. 

Firefighters were ordered to evacuate after conditions worsened, and they feared a collapse, Doug Alexander, a spokesman for the Mount Airy Fire Company said.

He did not reveal the firefighter's name or the extent of injuries.

It took about 90 minutes to get the fire under control as crews had difficulty accessing the scene as well as obtaining a water supply.

The state fire marshal is conducting an investigation.
