Crews Tackle Ga. Office Building Fire

There was heavy fire visible from the building on Tuesday morning.

Jan. 28--About four dozen DeKalb County firefighters were battling a huge fire early Tuesday in an office building on Memorial Drive.

The two-alarm blaze broke out about 4:45 a.m. in a two-story office building in the 4100 block of Memorial Drive, just inside I-285 near Covington Highway.

The building primarily houses office of the Georgia Department of Labor, DeKalb fire Capt. Eric Jackson said.

Jackson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the first arriving firefighters "discovered that there was literally fire burning from one end of the building to the other."

He said no injuries had been reported and there were no reports of anyone missing in the blaze.

"We're continuing to dump copious amount of water on this fire," Jackson said. "We aren't going to send any firefighters in because the building is pretty much a total loss, so there's no use in risking firefighter lives at this point."
