A fire truck was involved in a head-on collision Wednesday on an icy road in Ontario.
The motorist whose vehicle crossed the center line and hit the Orangeville Fire Department truck was seriously injured, according to local news reports.
“It looks like somebody crossed into the path of the fire truck,” Fire chief Andy Macintosh told reporters. “Don’t go out there, it’s not pretty.”
The fire truck was then rear-ended by a second vehicle, he said.
Firefighters had to extricate one person who was trapped in their vehicle. T
The fire truck was also seriously damaged. There was no word on any firefighter injuries.
“It’s bad,” the fire chief said. “It will be out of service for a long time.”
“People have got to slow down. If you can’t see, you have to slow down and it’s not happening,” he said. “It’s just beyond me, I can’t figure out why people don’t slow down.”
