Feb. 01--RICHMOND -- The Kentucky State Police are investigating a fire that claimed at least three lives in rural Madison County between Union City and College Hill Road.

Madison County Cornoner Jimmy Cornelison said the county fire department was called by a neighbor at 11:56 p.m. Friday.

Two bodies were found Saturday morning and another was discovered by early afternoon.

Purdy said KSP Arson Investigator Pat Alford was being assisted by the coroner and personnel from the Madison County Fire Department and the state Fire Marshal's office as well as the state police.

This was the second fire in that section of Madison County in less that 12 hours. The fire department was called Friday afternoon to another fire on Oakely Wells Road.

These deaths are the fourth fire fatalities in rural Madison County in a little more than four months.

The coroner said he recently was notified that DNA tests confirmed that human remains found after a Sept. 26 fire on Whitlock Road near Valley View were those of Walter Liebengood.
