Feb. 25--CHESAPEAKE -- Two Navy parachutists drifted off course and got stuck in some trees this morning at Fentress Airfield.
The city got the call for help shortly before 10:40 a.m., said Capt. Scott Saunders, city fire department spokesman.
The men were participating in a pre-planned training exercise when they "drifted a little bit" and ended up stuck in some trees, said Navy spokeswoman Kelley Stirling. She declined to be more specific about the training.
The two men were not injured, but the rescue effort was complicated by their location and difficulty getting a fire truck to the location, Stirling said.
The city sent an ambulance, ladder truck, technical rescue experts and others to the scene to assist Navy firefighters.
