March 02--BLOOMINGTON -- The cause of a fire that resulted in the partial collapse of a building's roof at 1600 S. Huntington Drive is under investigation. It was the third fire at the vacant location this year.

Just before midnight on Friday, the smoke and glow from the fire at the single-story structure were visible from Miller and Henderson streets.

The "fire was through the roof," when the Bloomington Fire Department arrived at 11:47 p.m., said Sgt. Brandon Hudson of the BFD. Four BFD engines and a ladder truck were called to the scene, closing off Huntington Drive.

It took 15 minutes for the BFD to put out the blaze, and no buildings nearby were damaged.

No one was in the building, which was formerly used by the Midco Cut Stone Co., and there were no injuries.

According to Hudson, the fire's cause is "under investigation," and more details about its origin will be released on Monday.
