March 02--A 17-year-old employee was injured this afternoon in a mishap on a beginner hill at a snowboard park in northwest suburban Algonquin.

The employee was on the Magic Carpet, a tow on the beginner hill, when he became entangled, said Keith Duck, an owner of the Raging Buffalo Snowboard Ski Park, 19-265 Western Ave.

It took the ski patrol, made up of paramedics and fire department officials, at least a hour to free the employee. The employee was then taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment, said Duck. His condition was not immediately available.

More than 30 personnel along with four fire engines, two police squads and two ambulances responded to the scene, according to a release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

The accident is under investigation, Duck said.
