One Dead, Seven Hurt in N.J. Home Blast

Area hospitals are reportedly in disaster mode.

One person is dead and seven have been injured in a house explosion in Ewing Township, N.J.

The blast happened about 1 p.m., according to CBSPhilly.

Aerial footage showed flames shooting from a house that appeared flattened. Nearby structures also were damaged.

Officials said the incident occurred at a group of townhomes where a private contractor was reportedly checking on a power problem.

Area hospitals were in disaster mode.

According to Ewing Police Lt. Ron Lunetta, five public utility workers and two private contractors were among those transported to area hospitals.
