Collapse Briefly Traps New York Firefighter

The Bedford Hills firefighter was trapped for 10 minutes when the roof collapsed.

A firefighter was trapped when the roof collapsed during a three-alarm fire in Bedford Hills early Saturday..

The fire was reported in the 3,000-square-foot home around 3 a.m., the Journal News reported.

"I'm in tears because I know one of [the firefighters], the thing collapsed on them, the roof," homeowner Thalia Stamatelos said, "for this piece of crap house."

The firefighter, who was trapped for 10 minutes, was taken to the hospital for burn injuries.

According to News12, two firefighter suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

"The house was well-engulfed, well-advanced upon our arrival," Assistant Chief Joseph? Lombardo told the newspaper.

According to the Journal News, the roof collapse happened at the "tail end" of the incident.

The home had recently been purchased and was vacant while the family prepared to demolish it.
