March 17--One person was killed during an apartment fire that engulfed a four-unit building early Monday morning in Clinton Township, according to the fire department.

The fire, reported at 3:47 a.m. at 24024 Hall Road, already had flames showing through the windows as crews arrived on scene, Deputy Fire Chief Mike Phy, with Clinton Township, said.

It appears the victim was male, and officials are continuing to investigate the incident. There were no other reports of injuries, and firefighters were still mopping up hotspots at 8:15 a.m.

"There's considerable damage to that whole building," Phy said.

Seven fire engines, a ladder truck and a unit providing air for firefighters' tanks were all dispatched to the scene. Supporting agencies called in to help battle the blaze included Macomb Township Fire, Mt. Clemens Fire and Southridge Fire Department.
