March 18--Former Katy Fire Chief Leslie Marc Jordan pleaded guilty Monday to two charges connected to drugs that went missing a year ago.
Jordan, 59, was sentenced to six years probation and a $2,000 fine for taking nine small vials of Diazepam, a sedative also known as Valium. He must serve nine days in jail as a condition of probation.
Prosecutors Tuesday said federal agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency conducted an audit of the fire department's controlled substances after an anonymous tip.
The former chief filed an official record that he dropped a box of vials on Jan. 11, 2013.
Surveillance video, however, showed the chief taking the drugs out of controlled substance locker and putting the box in his pocket. Investigators later found the empty box in Jordan's office.
Jordan pleaded guilty to diverting a controlled substance and tampering with a governmental record in state District Judge Jan Crocker's court.
