April 04--HARRISON COUNTY -- Fire crews from Lazana, Saucier and Harrison County extinguished a fire at a two-story home in less than 30 minutes Thursday evening, Harrison County Fire Marshal Pat Sullivan said.

Crews were called to a fire on Tim Bradley Road about 5:30 p.m. Sullivan said 11 firefighters and four trucks put out the fire in about 15 to 20 minutes. He said the home sustained smoke and fire damage but no one was injured.

Upon investigation, Sullivan said, officials found a stack of rags soaked with a wood-treating product had spontaneously combusted in a plastic trash can in an extension of the home that was under construction.

Sullivan said the fire was discovered early enough to prevent a total loss. He cautioned anyone using wood-treatment products to carefully read usage and storage labels.
