Windows Broken at Calif. Fire, Police Headquarters

Ventura police found a man fleeing through a nearby parking lot.

April 27--A man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of smashing a window at the Ventura police and fire department headquarters, authorities said.

Ventura police said they were alerted to a window being smashed at 8:53 a.m. at the headquarters in the 1400 block of Dowell Drive. Officers said they searched the area and found Anthony Rankin, 30, of Ventura, fleeing through a nearby parking lot.

Rankin was taken into custody and later identified by a witness, police said. He also was recorded on surveillance video, police said.
