May 01--Anne Arundel firefighters rescued seven people whose vehicles were stalled in swift water Wednesday, an agency spokesman said.

Firefighters responded to the area of Route 198 and Bald Eagle Drive at Fort George G. Meade just after 10 p.m. Three vehicles carrying five people were stalled in the water, said Division Chief Keith Swindle, a fire department spokesman.

All were removed safely and uninjured.

Earlier in the day, around 1 p.m., firefighters responded to the area of Brock Bridge Road and Whiskey Bottom Road in Maryland City where another vehicle had stalled in water.

Two people had already exited the vehicle and were standing nearby on a piece of high ground. Both were rescued uninjured, Swindle said.

In both incidents, the roads had been closed and motorists drove around barricades into the water, Swindle said.
