A fueling mishap destroyed a 1980 Honda at a Pleasant View Exxon station after a 21-year-old woman pushed her motorcycle to the station and apparently spilled gasoline.

May 02--PLEASANT VIEW -- A motorcycle went up in flames in what police say was an unfortunate accident Friday afternoon.

A 21-year-old woman pushed her motorcycle into the Exxon station on 1750 W. 2700 North after it ran out of fuel at about 3:20 p.m., according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

The woman filled up the tank, which accidentally overflowed and spilled onto the engine, which was still hot. The bike quickly ignited and the woman pushed it away to the ground. She then ran into the store to tell the clerk who activated the emergency stop to the gas pumps to prevent the fire from spreading through the fuel lines.

Weber Fire District crews quickly responded to put out the fire which caused minimal damage to the gas pump. The bike, a 1980 Honda, was a complete loss.

Deputies ruled the incident an accident and did not cite the woman.
