N.C. Firefighter Hurt When Ceiling Collapses

The vacant house was fully engulfed in flames.

May 05--A firefighter was injured this morning when a ceiling collapsed while battling a blaze at a vacant house at Raeford and Rim roads, the Fayetteville Fire Department said.

The firefighter has not been identified.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Battalion Chief Bobby Brinson said.

By the time firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were visible, Brinson said.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, he said.

The injured firefighter was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.

The cause of the fire was not known.

No damage estimate was given.
