Eight Hurt, Two Critically, in Mississippi SUV Rollover

Eight people were injured, two critically, Saturday about noon after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 at the Diamondhead overpass.

May 17--DIAMONDHEAD -- Eight people were injured, two critically, Saturday about noon after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 at the Diamondhead overpass, officials said.

Diamondhead Fire Department Capt. Tony Sciacca said a dark-red Ford Excursion traveling westbound flipped several times and landed on its roof at the 16-mile marker.

Sciacca said the two critically injured occupants were airlifted to Mobile. One of those is a minor.

Sciacca said the accident is still under investigation, and its cause hasn't been released.

The Diamondhead Police Department and American Medical Response also responded to the accident. Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Hancock County Sheriff's Department also assisted with the accident.
