June 02--Four firefighters suffered minor injuries as part of a house in Curtis Bay collapsed as they fought to put out a blaze in the early hours of Monday morning, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City fire departments went to the 1500 block of Popland Street shortly before 1:48 a.m., city fire spokesman Ian Brennan said in a recorded statement. When they arrived, they found a two-story house on fire.

About half an hour after firefighters arrived, part of the second floor collapsed injuring three Anne Arundel firefighters and one from the city, according to Brennan. After being pulled out of the burning house, Brennan said they were all treated at the scene.

Another firefighter who was injured after suffering a fall at the scene was treated and released from the hospital, according to Brennan.

The fire was eventually brought under control, but not before it spread to neighboring houses, Brennan said. Investigators are now working to determine a cause.
