June 15, 2014
Two Marion firefighters were shot at while trying to extinguish an outside fire.

A woman fired at two firefighters who were investigating an outside fire in Marion early Saturday.

They arrived around 5:40 a.m. to find a woman in the backyard near an unauthorized fire at an East Mark Street home, according to WYSX

Firefighters told the woman to douse the fire because it did not meet regulations. She became belligerent.

Marion Police Lt. Mike Radcliff told the Marion Star that firefighters advised her to move or she would be sprayed by the crew with the hoseline.

They opened the hoseline and the woman allegedly pulled out a gun and fired toward the firefighters.

Police took the woman into custody.

No injuries were reported.
