People rappelled on sheets to escape a fire in Centennial, Colo. early Monday.

Eight people were injured, one critically, according to TheDenverChannel.

Neighbors rushed to rescue people trapped in a burning apartment, tossing them sheets and blankets.

"I heard a loud boom, like a popping sound and looked out curtains from the balcony and saw just lights like big flickering lights all over the side of the building. So, I figured there must be a fire or something. So, I came out side and saw from where you can see over there (pointing to building) just fire, crazy just roaring out the front of it," Spencer Hall a resident, told reporters.
