June 30--A patient has been transported to Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter, and another was transported to a Pennsylvania hospital after falling from Prettyboy Dam in northern Baltimore County.

The men, approximately 20 years old, were rescued from the dam by a basket after falling approximately 200 feet down the face of the dam, according to Officer Heidi Greenleaf of the Baltimore Environmental Police. Baltimore County volunteer fire and EMS assisted with the technical rescue, which took approximately two hours, Greenleaf said.

Baltimore County crews were dispatched at 7:25 p.m., according to Baltimore County police spokesman Cpl. John Wachter

The patient flown to shock trauma was transported with life-threatening injuries, Wachter said. The other man was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Pennsylvania, Greenleaf said.

Officials were not able to say how the men fell. They may have been walking atop the dam or hiking near it, Greenleaf said.

The condition of the men was not immediately available Sunday night.
