Utah Firefighters Prevent Disaster

Trenton firefighters stopped flames from reaching two 1,000-gal. propane tanks.

TRENTON — Firefighters stopped a fire from spreading to two 1,000-gallon propane tanks on Monday, officials said.

Firefighters from Trenton, Lewiston, Newton and Clarkston were called at 11 a.m. to 1412 E. Main St., Trenton, after homeowners saw flames shooting out of a shed, said Fire Marshall Jason Winn with Cache County Fire District.

"The homeowners had looked out back and saw the fire,“ Winn said.

When crews arrived the wood 40-foot by 30-foot shed was fully engulfed in flames, Winn said.

Crews immediately got water sprayed on the two full propane tanks that were nearby, he said.

It took crews about an hour to completely put out the fire, which not only destroyed the shed, but two small tractors and a Jeep inside it. The fire caused $10,000 to $15,000 of estimated damage, Winn said. No one was injured from the fire.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, he said.
