Blaze Rips Through Three Homes in New York City

A grandmother and two grandchildren escaped a four-alarm fire that that ripped through three homes in the Bronx this afternoon and injured 13 people, authorities said.

Eleven firefighters were among those hurt in the blaze which began around 1:55 p.m. and spread to two other two-story houses on Hill Avenue in Wakefield, officials said.

The most-seriously injured victim was a firefighter who was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital on the Upper East Side, where he is listed in stable condition.

The 10 other firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to Jacobi.

Two civilians received minor injuries and were being evaluated on the scene, officials said.
