The worker was driving a cart that got wedged under a plane and crews freed him in 15 minutes.

July 31--Firefighters had to free a 21-year-old man who was injured this morning when he was trapped between a baggage cart and a plane at the Fayetteville Regional Airport.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, according to Richard Bradshaw, assistant fire chief of the Fayetteville Fire Department. The man's condition was not available, but Bradshaw said he appeared to have "pretty serious injuries."

Dispatchers sent emergency crews to the airport about 9:45 a.m. Bradshaw said the man was freed about 10 to 15 minutes after rescue workers arrived.

Bradshaw said the man was driving a cart equipped with a conveyor belt to load baggage on planes. The vehicle got wedged under a commercial jet, according to the assistant chief.

Fire crews used jacks and a rescue tool to get the man out, Bradshaw said.

"He was pinned up under the rear of the plane," he said.
