The third tow truck was the charm for this Philly engine Friday morning.
A Philadelphia fire engine crew wound up calling for help themselves Friday when the rig broke down on the way to an incident.
Engine 69 was responding to a call at about 9:30 a.m. Friday when the drive shaft broke, according to CBS Philly.
The firefighters stayed out of service with their disabled engine. And, things didn't get any better quickly.
It took three tries before the right tow truck got to haul it away -- about noon. The first two were too small to tow the fire truck.
Fortunately, the service call ended up not being of the serious nature, the station reported.
The fire truck, which was put into service in 1991, has over 119,000 miles on the odometer. The front numbers are duct-taped on.
