Wisconsin Firefighter Arrested, Charged With Arson

A New Holstein firefighter has been charged in two arson cases, one that burned a church and a second that burned a barn.

Aug. 22--A 22-year-old volunteer firefighter from New Holstein was arrested in connection with two arson cases, authorities said Friday.

He was arrested by the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office after two arsons were reported in the Town of Russell, according to a news release.

The first fire was reported Aug. 5 at St. Paul's Christian Church, located at N8903 County Road J, while the second occurred the next day at a barn at W7628 County Road H in the Town of Russell.

Fire departments from St. Anna, Elkhart Lake, Glenbuelah, Greenbush and Franklin, along with the Sheboygan County Fire Investigation Unit, responded to the barn fire, which was limited to one side of the building, according to a news release.

After a collaborative investigation, the 22-year-old volunteer firefighter was taken into custody for the two arson cases in Sheboygan County and is expected to be charged with one barn arson in Calumet County, authorities said.

No other information was immediately available Friday.
