A Milton firefighter was injured when his pumper overturned multiple times while returning from a fire scene.

A Milton firefighter was injured after his rig overturned while returning from a fire scene Friday.

"It was like a bomb exploded," Dan Jackson told WSAZ, "it went through the air. Everything was going everywhere."

Jackson told the TV station that the apparatus started going off the right side of the road. He suspected the driver overcompensated and then it hit a tree and rolled multiple times.

There was only one firefighter on the rig when the crash happened around 2 p.m.

Officials said the firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

"Adrenaline gets pumping a little bit harder when you hear it's one of yours," Assistant Fire Chief Bob Legg said.

The truck was destroyed in the crash.
