Dramatic Rescue at Md. Fire Caught on Video

ASPEN HILL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A woman has died after a fire at an Aspen Hill home on Thursday morning.

According to a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson, crews were dispatched to the single family home in the 4600 block of Iris Street at approximately 4:35 a.m. A man and his mother were inside the home, reported WUSA9's Nick Giovanni from the scene.

Firefighters rescued the woman from the second floor of the home. She suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer. She later died, reports WUSA9's Vanessa Herring.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, says Piringer.

According to The Montgomery County Firefighters Association, the fire was in the basement and the first floor partially collapsed.

More than 100 firefighters and 30 units are on the scene of the fire.

Aspen Hill Road is blocked at Iris Street. Aspen Hill Road is closed between Arctic Avenue and Parkland Drive, reports traffic anchor Monika Samtani.
