Phillip and Rosanna Alvarado lost everything when a wildfire roared through their town of Weed this week.
But, it was a small hand-written note from a Cal Fire firefighter that brought Alvarado to tears.
Even though his comic book collection, motorcycles, and home were gone, he was drawn to open the mailbox.
"I cried. That was the first time I cried," he told a KTVU reporter. "Yeah, it was really special that they cared enough to do that."
The full note read: "Sorry about your home. It was already on fire when we showed up. We moved your trucks to the other side of the road. Thanks for leaving the keys."
It was signed "Calfire Siskiyou."
The fire all but destroyed the entire town.
