Three Killed in Fire Engine, SUV Crash in W.Va.

They were in an SUV that drove into the path of a Philippi fire truck that on the way to a structure fire.

Three people were killed when the SUV they were in drove into the path of a Philippi Volunteer Fire Departmenti fire truck on the way to a structure fire Tuesday night.

According to local television station TV12 WBOY, the two vehicles collided at about 9 p.m. when the engine was responding to a fire on U.S. Route 250. The truck had lights and sirens activated when the SUV pulled in front of the engine which collided with it in a T-Bone style collision.

The Honda was pulling out from 4-H Camp Road when the crash occurred.

The three deceased people in the SUV, all from Morgantown, were identified as Joseph Kuzinar, 75, Linda Diane Kuzinar, 65, and Jessica L. Paczek, 38, according to the television station.

Five Phillipi Fire Department members in the engine were evaluated at Broaddus Hospital and released.

The crash is under investigation by the West Virginia State Police and Barbour County Sheriff’s Office.
