Kansas Firefighter Dies of Stroke

A Kansas firefighter has died of an apparent stroke after collapsing at his firehouse.

Clifford Sanders, 55, was at the Caney Fire Department preparing to respond to a grass fire when he was stricken.

Fellow firefighters treated him, and he was transported to Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Okla. Later, he was transferred to St. JOhns Hospital in Tulsa where he died of a stroke.

This is the first line-of-duty death for the Caney Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, two children, two grandchildren and 22 fellow firefighter brothers, a spokesman told the media.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
