D.C. Firefighter Dies at High-Rise Blaze

Lt. Kevin McRae was a veteran firefighter whose cousin also died in the line of duty.

A D.C. firefighter collapsed and died Wednesday morning at a high-rise fire.

Lt. Kevin McRae was taken to Washintgon MedStar where he was pronounced dead.

His cousin, D.C. Firefighter James McRae died of a massive heart attack in the line of duty in 2007.

Another firefighter was injured at Wednesday's fire, but is expected to be OK.

McRae and others were walking down the stairs after extinguishing the fire when they complained of trouble breathing.

Fellow firefighters were seen holding hands and praying outside the hospital where he died.
