A 45-year-old Green Bay Metro fire lieutenant/paramedic was found dead at the station at about 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
According to information from the department’s Facebook page, Lt. Michael Miller, an 18-year veteran with the department was found unresponsive and without a pulse while he was on shift at the station on Shawano Avenue.
The Green Bay Press Gazette reported Miller died in his bed where he was found by fellow firefighters.
The release from the department reads as follows: “It is with deepest regrets, and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Michael Miller of the Green Bay Metro Fire Department. Lt. Miller was assigned to Station 3 on A Shift, and was on shift when his crews found him unresponsive and without a pulse early this morning. Lt. Miller was 45 years old and had loyally served his community for over 18 years. He is survived by his loving wife and caring son. Lt. Miller was always one to put others in front of himself, both as a Firefighter and a Paramedic and used his witty humor to put a smile on any face. Please keep Lieutenant Miller's family in your thoughts and prayers. Rest In Peace Brother...We Will Take It From Here...”
The newspaper reported that tributes to the fallen firefighter, known as “Peanut” were pouring in from friends and firefighters. He was remembered for his quick wit and his smile.
