EMT Killed in N.J. Ambulance Crash

A multi-vehicle wreck in East Brunswick left a 22-year-old EMT dead Saturday morning.

Hinal Patel, of Piscataway, was working her last shift with Spotswood Emergency Services before leaving for medical school.

The Spotswood ambulance was responding to a crash around 8 a.m. when it was struck by a Toyota Prius, according to NJ.com. The ambulance overturned and slid into a Subaru Legacy that was stopped on a side street.

Patel was riding in the front passenger seat of the ambulance.

The driver of the ambulance and the Prius suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with.

As police wrapped up their investigation, a tow truck flipped the ambulance back on its wheels.
